Lucid Auto

Has just been presented here.

Price 6 figures with equipment and quality well, red rust will soon send its regards.

Market in Germany/Europe difficult because the price/quality category of the customers is not fulfilled.

My summary:

Good inside, bad outside

Door handle wobbly, loading flap playful, trunk lid doesn't work at all.

@Alpalaka without SA's

@Alpalaka It's pretty hefty, you can even get a BMW i5 with a few SA's😅. The trunk looks smaller than my former 2 Series convertible. Useless with a child

@Wellenreiter Even useless as a single 😄 Time to go to the DIY store? Not a chance. Large parcel to the post office? Möp.

@devnerd_daddy was probably. Completely out of touch with reality. Quality aside

It's almost audacious to even put something like that at a presentation 😂

@ChrisBizz Yes, the Yank Chinese still have a lot to learn about value.

For 50-55k € you could possibly get rid of them. These things are nothing more than disposable products that last ~usually 7-8 years after the end of the battery warranty. If something breaks and, as is unfortunately usual, is only replaced, you can wait 3-12 months until the parts are shipped over. Look at all the MG, BYD drivers.

Does the Lucid even have cavity sealing? One look underneath and you'll know more. If not rust is pre-programmed. The battery lasts longer than the car anyway.

@Papiertiger very few Americans have preservative wax or are designed for it. For some countries, something is sealed, but if the product design doesn't allow it - it doesn't help much 🤣

I'd get a Tesla Model S Plaid first instead of such a soapbox🤢

We are talking about a new vehicle here, not a BMW E38, where prestige was the most important thing for the brand and where "nothing but perfection" was indeed required on the assembly line in Dingolfing. A Tesla is not "better" in many respects and covers this up with gimmicks that no driver in the world needs.

Meanwhile, the trunk lid is fine: it doesn't look much different on a brand new Audi A8 and if that's what the market knows and is used to, then Lucid is doing everything right here, especially as it is neither an estate nor a hatchback saloon.

Furthermore, you should not push the A8 through the car wash, because it is quite possible that the panels will be plucked off. We're not even talking about broken fiber optic cables in the rear door: if this is the case, the door may be replaced so that the ambient lighting looks uniform again. Which brings us to the subject of quality.

Time will tell, therefore, and on the subject of cavity sealing, it should certainly be noted that the vehicle is in all probability fully veneered from below. Anything else doesn't really make sense, as there are no hot components to distribute on this vehicle that would break a veneer, and with the price tag it's not unusual for the vehicle to be parked in a garage where it can dry out. So the long-term quality will tell.

And let's be honest: rattling door handles are normal these days. As I said, we're talking about a new vehicle here. Not a BMW E38, Mercedes Benz W140 or W124.
